Site seeing in Vienna
The Anchor Clock was built between 1911 - 1917 displaying a fine example of fine Nouveaux design. The Belvedere park boasts two splendid palaces built for Prince Eugene of Savoy. They both house museums containing some great Austrian artifacts as well as 19th and 20th century paintings, including works from Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka.

Other sites not to be missed include the Vienna Opera House, Schonbrunn Zoo, Hofburg, a medieval castle and the Karlskirsche, the biggest Baroque cathedral in the Alps.

Dining out in Vienna
The Wiener Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel) are probably two of the most world famous dishes. Their cuisine has influences from many regions, but is a pretty safe bet for American travelers. Beef, veal, chicken and pork are the main meats served in steaks, casseroles or cured and served cold, typically for breakfast. Breads and cheeses are also popular with many of them being imported from neighboring Germany and Switzerland.

Vienna Transportation
Vienna has a great network of tubes, trams, trains and busses, which may be easier to take rather than fight through the one-way streets and traffic jams. Parking is also a problem in the city center and cycling is positively encouraged. For a small deposit you can cycle around the center on a public cycle called Stadrad, or cycle along the banks of the Danube.
