Northwest Airlines History and Service

Founded in 1926 and with headquarters in Eagan Minnesota, Northwest Airlines is the world's fifth largest airline and operates over 400 aircraft to 233 destinations including England, Europe and South and Central Asia. Northwest is part of the Skyteam Alliance and has many codeshares in place with KLM. Due to the current airline economy it is also under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and hasn't yet announced any plans to emerge.

Its distinctive red tail is reminiscnet of its World War II involvement, where it aided the war effort and due to harsh weather painted its aircraft's tails red for easier recognition. Northwest Airlines carries more passengers across the pacific than any other airline, so it is natirually the airline of choice for Asian destinations.

Northwests service must be improving! I have not flown this airline for sometime and was pleasantly surprised by both the gound and in flight service I expereinced. Ill give it another try next year!
