Continental Airlines History and Service
Based in Houston Texas at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Continental Airlines is the fourth largest US airline and eighth in the world by revenue passenger miles. It operates over 350 aircraft flying to destinations across the globe including: Europe, Hawaii, Australia, Asia and South East Asia.
Established in 1934 (originally as Varney Speed Lines) it has grown through a series of merger and acquisitions until in 1983 it filed Chapter 11 and had to be restructured. It emerged three years later with new management and soon after formed a partnership with Scandanavian Airlines (SAS).
With the first Gulf War bringing about rising fuel prices, Continental faced Chapter 11 again, then found itself in more hot water due to the SARS and 9/11 attacks in 2001. Depsite the rough times, Continental has many awards in it's display cabinet including No.1 most admire airline by Fortune magazine 3 years running and Highest Ranked Network Airline by J.D. Power and Assiciates.

Continental Airlines could improve their on-time departure rate and luggage handling service but, otherwise, this flight was fine.
